About the Role

As a backend / API engineer, you will be responsible for planning, building, and maintaining the Trust API. Our core engineering values are developer trust, team collaboration, and product ownership. In light of these values, you will be in a position to help shape everything from product implementation to hiring decisions.

You will:

  • Work with product owners to define functional and non-functional requirements
  • Design software architecture and systems to meet specified requirements
  • Develop, test and maintain the Pepper API
  • Work closely with technical and non-technical team members
  • Produce documentation for software and systems
  • Assist in building a team of software developers (assist with hiring, mentorship, etc.)

What we're looking for:

  • A minimum of 3 years of software development experience. 
  • Expertise with object-oriented programming languages. Particularly Python.
  • Expertise with relational databases. Particularly PostgreSQL
  • Proven ability to design, build, and document APIs
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • Results-focused, collaborative and pragmatic

Bonus points:

  • Familiarity with Ops platforms tools and processes (AWS, GCS, etc.)
  • Data pipeline experience
  • Familiarity with Docker
  • Enterprise software, B2B services, or FinTech experience
  • Familiarity / Expertise with Flask microframework
